Notice of Public Hearing for Proposed Ordinances Nos. 872 and 873
NOTICE is hereby given that the Borough Council of the Borough of Myerstown, Lebanon County, Pennsylvania will conduct a public hearing to receive questions and comments on proposed Ordinance No. 872 and proposed Ordinance No. 873 on October 10, 2023 at 6:45 p.m. at the Myerstown Community Center situate at 101 South Railroad Street, Myerstown, Myerstown Borough, Lebanon County, Pennsylvania.
Proposed Ordinance 872 contains provisions establishing regulations, licensing, and inspection requirements for short-term rental properties in Myerstown Borough; setting forth the scope of the ordinance; defining certain terms; requiring owners to apply for licenses for short-term rentals and detailing the information to be included in the license application; setting forth short-term rental standards; establishing a licensing application procedure, application fee, and renewal procedure and fee; naming the Code Enforcement Officer as the administrator of the licensing program; requiring inspections; addressing marketing of short-term rentals; setting forth provisions for notices of violation; deeming violations of the ordinance to be a nuisance; establishing penalties for violations; providing for joint and several liability of owners; providing for an appeals procedure; providing severability and repealer clauses; and establishing an effective date.
Proposed Ordinance 873 amends the Myerstown Borough Code of Ordinances, Chapter 15 – Motor Vehicles and Traffic, Part 2 – Traffic Regulations, related to establishing maximum speed limits on certain streets. The amendment would change the existing 35 miles per hour speed limit on State Route 501 (College Street) to 25 miles per hour between Center Avenue and North Railroad Street.
After receiving questions and comments, the Borough Council intends to vote on Ordinances 872 and 873 following the conclusion of the public hearing during its regularly-scheduled public meeting on October 10, 2023. Copies of the Ordinances may be reviewed at the Myerstown Community Center, located at 101 S. Railroad Street, Myerstown, Pennsylvania on any Monday through Friday, except legal holidays, from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Copies of the Ordinances may be purchased by paying the copying costs thereof.
