Operator - Wastewater Treatment Facility
Myerstown Borough is currently accepting applications for a full-time Operator with a strong mechanical background to join our Wastewater Operations team. This position will assist in all phases of operations and maintenance of a 2.0 MGD Activated Sludge/BNR Treatment Facility, Collection System, Industrial Pretreatment Program, and Solids Handling.
This position requires weekends and holidays on a rotating basis, as well as periodic emergency callouts. The prospective candidate must be able to pass a complete background investigation (including references, employment, criminal, driving, and pre-employment drug screening) and possess the ability to lift and carry 60 pounds, work in confined spaces, and perform work in all weather conditions. Reliable transportation and an emergency response time of less than one hour are also required.
Qualifications include a valid Pennsylvania driver’s license, advanced knowledge of pumps, motors, VFD’s, and instrumentation, and electrical skills. A current PA DEP Wastewater Class B Type 1 license is preferred but not essential if the successful candidate meets the mechanical “hands-on” requirements.
