Myerstown Borough Construction Code Ordinance
In July of 2004, Myerstown Borough adopted and incorporated by reference the Pennsylvania Uniform Construction Code (UCC).  The Pennsylvania UCC establishes minimum construction standards for virtually all residential and commercial construction activity within Pennsylvania.  

Building Code Permit
To ensure all buildings in Myerstown Borough are in compliance with the Pennsylvania UCC, building permits are required for all major building and property renovations.    Building Code Permit Applications can be obtained at the Borough Offices at the Myerstown Community Center at 101 South Railroad St, or at the link below.  Permit Applications can be submitted either at Borough Offices or at the offices of the Borough's Building Code Official.  Permit applications can be found on the Borough's Forms & Applications page at the link below.

All related fees, including fees for permits, inspection fees, plan review fees, etc. are set and collected by the Borough's appointed third-party Building Code Official.

Please keep in mind that doing work regulated by the UCC without a permit will result in an enforcement action being taken against you by the municipality, and upon conviction, you may be subject to fines and penalties up to and including $1,000 per day of each.

 - Install or expand cooling system  - Repair or replace cooling system  
 - Install or expand heating system   - Repair or replace heating system 
 - Convert to different fuel type (e.g. oil to gas)   
 - Install or expand solar system   
 - Install new fireplace or wood-burning stove   

PLUMBING
YES - A permit is required    NO - A permit is not required 
- Add new fixtures  - Repair or replace existing fixtures 

ELECTRICAL
YES - A permit is required  NO - A permit is not required 
- Add new service  - Repair or replace outlet 
- Upgrade service  - Convert outlet to GFI 
- Add new circuitry   
- Install generator   

ADDITIONS and RENOVATIONS
YES - A permit is required  NO - A permit is not required 
 - New construction or complete gut  - Repair drywall 
 - Increase number of dwelling units   - Install or replace carpet or flooring 
 - Convert non-habitable space into
