Public Hearing for Fireworks Ordinance Revisions on June 24, 2020

NOTICE is hereby given that the Borough Council of the Borough of Myerstown, Lebanon County, Pennsylvania will hold a public hearing to receive questions and comments on Ordinance No. 854 at its meeting to be held on June 24, 2020 at 6:30 p.m. at the Myerstown Community Center situate at 101 South Railroad Street, Myerstown, Myerstown Borough, Lebanon County, Pennsylvania.

Proposed Ordinance 854 amends Ordinance No. 818 and Chapter 7 – Fire Prevention and Fire Protection, Part 4 – Fireworks. The Ordinance reflects recent changes in regulations and requirements pursuant to 72 P.S. § 9401 et seq.  The Ordinance repeals and replaces Ordinance No. 818 to the extent the Ordinances are inconsistent. The Ordinance sets forth definitions of terms used throughout the Ordinance; provides for supervised public displays of fireworks; enumerates permitted uses of display fireworks; sets forth requirements for permits and fees; provides for the authority of a Fire Prevention Officer; sets forth permit application procedures; regulates the days, times, and places that display fireworks and consumer fireworks can be ignited/discharged; sets forth requirements for registration and bonding; provides for the extension of a permit in the event of unfavorable weather; sets forth regulations for consumer fireworks; provides for enforcement and penalties; includes severability and repealer clauses; and states an effective date.

After receiving questions and comments, the Borough Council intends to vote on Ordinance 854 following the conclusion of the public hearing during its regular public meeting on June 24, 2020.  Copies of the Ordinance may be reviewed at the following link:
